Charity Darts Event (Take Two) - 22/05/2010

Local Hero and PDC Darts Player Terry "The Bull" Jenkins entertained the crowds at Bromyards Cricket Club, taking on several challengers from the crowd. Terry very generously waived his fee in support of The Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal. MC John Peakman, was yet again showing his tremendous support and on top form! A perfect evening of fundraising topped by the surprise arrival of dear friends Sharon & Andrew Backhouse whose 18 year old son James was K.I.A with William on 10th July 2009. They travelled all the way from Castleford in Yorkshire with their youngest son Ryan, to attend the event and raise a glass to Will in celebration on the eve of what would have been his 19th birthday. A total of £964.50 was raised on the night.

Rugby 4 Heroes - 08/05 ~ 09/05/2010

We were absolutely delighted  to be invited to have a stand in the Charity Tent at the Rugby 4 Heroes Festival at OLRFC in Leamington Spa this year. A fantastic opportunity to meet and network with some amazing charities like Help for Heroes, The Gurkha Welfare Trust, Army Benevolent Fund and The Royal British Legion. As well as some great Rugby tournaments, there were marching bands, The Tigers Parachute Display Team, face-painting and a bouncy castle - The Bomb Disposal Team even put in an appearance!! Live music from various bands including Leamingtons home-grown Sambassadors of Groove rounded off the evening on Saturday. As Founder of The Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal I was also extremely honoured to be able to help the Leamingtonians Club Chairman present both the mens Finals Trophies on Saturday and the ladies on Sunday. A fabulous family weekend of fun with the emphasis on raising awareness and much needed funds for our Armed Forces Charities. We raised a total of £500.51 through the sale of wristbands, a combined charities raffle and some generous donations.


Martial Arts 24hr Sparathon - 01/05 ~ 02/05/2010

The Banjo Freestyle Club in Bristol showed true grit and determination in successfully completeing 24hrs of non-stop, gruelling sparring in mixed martial arts disciplines. They were joined by members of other clubs and several serving soldiers to help raise money for the Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal. A very fitting challange, as the chief instructor of the Banjo Freestyle Club, Mr. Phil Newman inspired Williams love and participation in martial arts during his military training.  A total of £466 was raised on the day - with further sponsorship yet to be collected. Well done to all involved - The last few minutes of this exhausting 24 hour challenge was captured on the video below.


Charity Disco - 17/04/2010

A Charity Disco organised by DJ James Moy at Brookers Oast Pub in Paddock Wood, Kent raised a total of £155 which was kindly donated to our Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal. Many thanks to James for holding the event and to all who attended.


Charity Darts Evening - 03/04/2010

The Charity Darts Event held at Bromyard Cricket Club was a resounding success. 'The Rocket' Ronnie Baxter was a true showman and gentleman, donating several signed items to auction on the night. MC John Peakman was outstanding and really got the crowd going! What a fantastically entertaining evening. Huge Thanks to Becki Icke for organising the event, to everyone who helped with the buffet, our kind sponsor Mr. Brian Johnson and to the Cricket Club for allowing us to host the evening at their venue. A total of £1,652 was raised.


Sponsored Cycle Tour of Flanders - 28/03/2010

On the 28th March 2010 Sjt. Matthew Nunn of 2nd Battalion the Rifles set off on an amazing challenge (A sponsored cycle tour of Flanders) to help raise funds for our Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal. So far raising a total of £800 with some sponsorship money still to be collected. Details of Matty's journey can be read on our Blog. Well done Matty - what a star!


Charity Ball - 05/03/2010

On the 5th March 2010 The Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal hosted a Charity Ball at the Three Counties Hotel in Hereford. Attended by 150 guests including 'The Band Of Mothers' (7 of the 8 Mum's who lost their sons 9/10th July 2009) The event was also attended by Ex RGJ 9 Platoon Commander Sebastian Willis Fleming, who presented the Rifles Mum's with a beautiful engraved Crystal Glass Tankard in recognition of their son's bravery and sacrifice. We also had great pleasure in having 'special guest' Brian Viner and his lovely wife in our midst. A huge THANK YOU to ALL who so generously donated such incredible items for our Auction and the Raffle. Live music was provided by the immensely talented Lou Harper and Paul Geoghegan our DJ got the crowds on the dance floor with some brilliant tunes. We have raised a grand total of £7, 770.10 to date with a few more cheques yet to be received.


Valentines Day Tandem Skydive - 14/02/2010

On Valentines Day Sarah Brooke and Royal Marine Pete Sewell both bravely took to the skies to do a sponsored Tandem Skydive at the Silver Stars Parachute Centre, Duke of Gloucester Barracks, South Cerney. They managed to raise a staggering £1,050 between them. Well Done Guys!


Local Fundraisers - 13/02/2010

A Concert held at the Conquest Theatre in Bromyard raised £120 through the sale of Raffle Tickets to win a Luxury Hamper and was kindly donated to The Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal. Huge thanks to Stevie and Dickie.

A dance held at the Rugby Club in Malvern raised charitable funds - £340 of which, was generously donated to our Appeal. With many thanks to Mr.Bernard Flannagan and his committee members.


Auction of Promises - 06/02/2010

On the 6th of February we hosted our own Auction Of Promises & Lots at the Historic Falcon Hotel in Bromyard. Auctioneer for the evening was Mr. Barry Bufton. All items were kindly donated by local businesses and the local people of Bromyard, Leominster, Hereford & Worcester. Auction lots ranged from Flying Lessons, Spa Days & Weekend Breaks to a Day at Cheltenham Races! We successfully raised an astonishing £2,300.


Music for Heroes - 20/12/2009

The very talented Oldham-based singer Lou Harper kindly organised a 'Music For Heroes' concert at the Amber Lounge in Stalybridge, Nr. Manchester. Despite unbelievable snow blizzards sweeping the country that day, the event was still a huge success! Lou performed her own song 'You Got Love' live - dedicated to the eight young soldiers who lost their lives within a 24hr period whilst on operational duties in Afghanistan. A whole host of musicians and entertainers donated their time to perform on the night, with many artists donating a track for a 'Music for Heroes' compilation album which was sold at the event. A slightly saucy, Military-themed Calendar was also produced in aid of the Kilimanjaro 2010 Appeal (kindly sponsored by Danilo) and featuring the gorgeous female Band Members .... Every Squaddie should own one!!


Auction of Promises - 01/12/2009

A very Festive 'Auction of Promises' was hosted by Mrs. Karen Smart at The Old Barn Inn, Three Cocks in Glasbury. The proprietors kindly combined the Auction with their official 'switching on' of the Christmas Lights. A grand total of £1,201 was achieved with a further £120 to be collected.
