"Continuing to help injured soldiers"

Picture
The KILIMANJARO 2010 APPEAL was launched in October 2009, following the death of Rifleman William Aldridge. He remains the youngest soldier to be K.I.A. on July 10th 2009, attempting to save his friends, despite his own injuries, whilst on operational duties in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Inspired by the love of his beautiful girlfriend Zeta Price who wanted to achieve something special in his memory -  the challenge of climbing a mountain and raising funds through sponsorship and donations to "Continue helping injured soldiers" became a most fitting tribute in honour of Williams' bravery and sacrifice.

Funds raised will be donated to the RCDM MoD Patient Welfare Fund at Selly Oak & The Riflemans Fund (supporting injured Riflemen & bereaved families)

Our Mission

With the continuing number of deaths and growing number of casualties returning from the conflict in Afghanistan, the work of the medical teams at The Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, the future care of injured soldiers and bereaved families is paramount.

As Rifleman Will Aldridge is the youngest soldier to pay the ultimate sacrifice in attempting to save his comrades, doing so, despite his own injuries - we have set ourselves a mission in his honour and memory:

"To continue helping injured soldiers"

Presently, the RCDM and the Welfare Funds supporting both injured soldiers and bereaved families rely heavily on charitable donations.

We are currently organising various fundraising events and gaining sponsorship for our Kilimanjaro trek. All money raised will be donated to the RCDM MoD Patient Welfare Fund & The Riflemans Fund.
